For this position you would be working with our client from the European institutions.

DG EMPL, Unit A4 in partnership with other Commission services and stakeholders, provides high quality corporate solutions/information systems for supporting the mission of DG EMPL, enabling the successful implementation of the Commission's Digital Transformation and EU policies.
In close collaboration with other Commission services and its customers, DG EMPL, unit A4 builds and operates solutions in the areas of life long learning and improving Europeans career path with tools like Europass

Below are the details of your role and requirements.

Your role

• Development of back-end website applications.
• Integration of user-facing elements developed by a front-end developers with server side logic.
• Implement core business logic.
• Creation of servers and databases for functionality.
• Design and implementation of data storage solutions.
• Understanding and implementation of security and data protection.
• Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability.
• Design and develop APIs.
• Participating in the design and creation of scalable software.
• Taking lead on projects, as needed.
• Maintenance of code integrity and organisation.
• Writing clean, functional code on the back-end.
• Compile and analyse data, processes, and codes to troubleshoot problems and identify areas for improvement.
• Testing and fixing bugs or other coding issues
• Meet both technical and consumer needs.
• Write technical documentation.

Who we think you are:

• Java Language: Deep understanding of Java, including OOP concepts, generics, collections, concurrency, etc.
• Spring Framework: Experience with Spring, especially Spring Boot, for creating RESTful services, dependency injection, security, data access,
• Database and ORM: Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate, JPA) for data persistence.
• Build Tools: Experience with build tools and dependency management (e.g., Maven).
• API Development: Ability to design and develop RESTful APIs and understanding of API design principles (e.g., REST, GraphQL).
• Capabilities in related areas, such as devops, networking, and cloud-related skills like

• Testing: Proficiency in testing tools and frameworks like JUnit, Mockito, and Spring Test for unit and integration testing.

• Angular Framework: Proficient in Angular (at least v17) concepts such as modules,

• TypeScript: Strong understanding of TypeScript, the primary language used with Angular for adding types to JavaScript.
• HTML/CSS: Proficient in HTML5 and CSS3 for structuring and styling web pages.

• Testing: Knowledge of testing frameworks and libraries like Jest and Cypress / Playwright for unit and end-to-end testing.
