About the Role
Were seeking a Generative AI Engineer (Freelance) to join our clients pioneering Center of Excellence for Generative AI. This is a high-impact, full-time freelance mission based in Charleroi, with an initial duration of 3 months (renewable). Youll be at the forefront of designing and deploying next-generation AI solutions that will transform how people work, automate processes, and unlock new possibilities across the organization.

As a Generative AI Engineer, youll be instrumental in building the foundation for this transformation, developing POCs, pilots, and production-ready solutions that will define the future of their business. Your expertise will directly influence the creation of a dedicated AI competence center and the strategic direction of generative AI initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) chatbots that leverage external data sources (documents, FAQs, APIs) for precise, contextualized responses.
- Build intelligent agents capable of complex tasks, including searching, editing, and updating information in databases (Fabric, PostGres, CosmosDB, SQL) and integrating with external applications via APIs.
- Construct, optimize, and maintain robust ETL/ELT data pipelines to support AI workflows.
- Manage data flows, transformations, and integrations, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
- Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards to analyze performance, optimize costs, and ensure operational excellence.
- Deploy and monitor AI models on Azure, using KPIs to drive continuous optimization and improvement.
- Contribute as a technical expert to the development of generative AI strategy, governance, and the establishment of a Center of Excellence.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless AI solution deployments.
- Participate in knowledge transfer activities as required (5 days).
Technical Skills & Experience
- Expertise in creating and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines (35 years).
- Proven experience in data exploration and management using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Fabric, CosmosDB, Postgres, SQL, and other Azure solutions (35 years).
- Hands-on experience implementing RAG solutions and agents with both structured (databases, APIs) and unstructured (documents, images) data (35 years).
- Proficiency in Azure services for AI development, testing, and deployment, including Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Services, and/or Azure AI Search.
- Solid understanding of AI processes: training, fine-tuning, inference (endpoints, batch), especially with LLMs.
- Strong Python development skills, with experience in frameworks/libraries such as LangChain and PySpark (35 years).
- Mastery of monitoring tools for operational and performance optimization, including cost management, based on technical and functional KPIs (35 years).
Language Proficiency
- French: C2 (fluent/professional proficiency, CEFR scale)
- English: B1 (intermediate, CEFR scale)
Other Requirements
- This is a freelance position, full-time, with an initial 3-month contract (renewable).
- Hybrid work: Minimum 2 days per week onsite in Charleroi; additional onsite days may be required based on project needs.
- Driving license and personal vehicle required (site not easily accessible by public transport; occasional travel to other sites possible).
- Availability to start as soon as possible, with a preferred start date of 01/10/2025.
- Commitment to knowledge transfer (5 days).
